Japanese Scientists Create Robot Arms That You Can Wear and Use Everyday
In Japan, a group of scientists have designed exactly that—extra robotic arms you can use daily, which also look good enough to be worn as a futuristic fashion statement.
Called Jizai Arms, the robotic limbs created by a team at the University of Tokyo were named after traditional Japanese articulate animal figurines called "Jizai Okimono," where the word "Jizai" roughly translates to "freely moving."
Meta Is Getting Into the VR Gaming Subscription Business
Meta announced on June 26th that it is launching a subscription service called Meta Quest+ for its VR headsets.
Priced at $7.99, the service gives subscribers access to two “hand-picked VR titles” every month, an arguable plus (but you don’t get to select the games, an arguable minus). The subscription is available to Quest 2 and Quest Pro users, and will also be available on the Quest 3, which is set for release later this year.
Deepmind Claims Its Next Chatbot Will Rival ChatGPT
ChatGPT might’ve captured the world’s attention. But DeepMind, the Google-owned research lab, claims that its next large language model will rival — or even best — OpenAI’s.
According to a piece in Wired, DeepMind is using techniques from AlphaGo, DeepMind’s AI system that was the first to defeat a professional human player in the board game Go, to make a ChatGPT-rivaling chatbot called Gemini.
